This tutorial will guide you through the steps to install and use the VeePN on Ubuntu and Fedora 41. Make sure, you have an active VeePN Subscription. If not, choose a suitable plan.
How to setup VeePN on Ubuntu
Application Setup

Generate Configuration Files:

Login to Your Account: Visit our website and log in with your credentials

Navigate to the “Overview” Tab: Once logged in, go to the “Overview” tab

Access the Linux Settings: Scroll down to the Advanced section and click on “Linux”

Download Configuration Files: Download the configuration files. Currently, VeePN supports OVPN files

Generate Login Credentials: At the bottom of the page, you can generate login credentials for further setup

Extract Configuration Files:
- Extract the downloaded zip archive containing the configuration files
- Extract the downloaded zip archive containing the configuration files

Install OpenVPN Network Manager:
- Launch Terminal and install OpenVPN Network Manager on Ubuntu with the command:
sudo apt-get install -y network-manager-openvpn-gnome
- Launch Terminal and install OpenVPN Network Manager on Ubuntu with the command:

Configure OpenVPN:
- Open Network Settings from the System menu
- Click on the "+" button in the VPN section
- Select "Import from file..."
- Locate and select the OpenVPN configuration file downloaded earlier, then click "Open"
- Open Network Settings from the System menu

Add Credentials:
- Enter the username and password generated earlier in your account
- Click "Add" and close the Settings window

Connect to VPN:
- Open the System menu, go to VPN and click on "Connect"
- Once connected, a VPN icon will appear in the system tray
- Open the System menu, go to VPN and click on "Connect"

How to setup VeePN on Fedora
Setup Preparation
1. Login to Your Account: Visit our website and log in with your credentials
2. Navigate to the “Overview” Tab: Once logged in, go to the “Overview” tab
3. Access the Linux Settings: Scroll down to the Advanced section and click on “Linux”
4. Download Configuration Files: Enter the search bar desired location you would like to connect to (1). Then, select either TCP or UDP file (2). Alternatively, you can download a zip file with all locations (3). In case you are not certain, feel free to contact our Support Team at support@veepn.com or via chat.
4. Find your credentials: At the bottom from locations, you can find login credentials for further setup.
Installation
1. (Optional) Extract Configuration Files:
- In case you decided to download a zip file with all configurations, it is vital to extra the archive. Right-click on the downloaded archive in your file manager and then pick "Extract" (alternatively, press "Enter" button)
2. Install required packages: Navigate to Terminal (press "Win" key and type "Teminal" in the top search bar) and enter the following commands and press "Enter" :
sudo dnf update
sudo dnf install openvp NetworkManager-openvpn-gnome -y
3. Import configuration files via Network Manager:
Open "Settings" via search. Press "Win" button on your keyboard, enter "Settings" in the search bar and click on the result.
- In the opened window, choose "Network" in the list on the left.
- Click "+" sign in the VPN field.
- Pick "Import from file..." from the list.
- Select the desired file configuration and click "Open"
- In the opened window, switch to "Identity" tab. In the "Name" (1) field, you can enter a desired name for this VPN connection. For example, "VeePN Quebec TCP". It will help you identify this connection if you decide to add other locations. In the User Name field, enter the username (2) and password (3) from your personal account that we recommended to save. Then, click "Add" button above.
- Toggle on location that appeared in "VPN" list in the "Network Settings". Alternatively, you can connect from the top panel.
